Whether weather …

Will change? Ofcourse, it will! It is the eternal cycle of nature; seasons come and go, the eternal change we have learnt in geography blah blah blah. Right now, it doesn’t seem so. I am sitting in a room where inspite of two fans running overhead, I feels like I am doing to kill myself by sweating. The humidity is killing people and I can happily testify as a witness to this crime.

He said people talk about weather when they have nothing better to discuss. Well, if weather overcomes every clutter in my mind, what else is there to write on? I don’t feel like eating, working, sleeping or even having sex! I sit with my laptop everyday to update my blog but all I can think about is ‘it’s so bloody hot since last 2 months!’

Only way to beat the heat, atleast in Mumbai, is either to sit in the AC 24X7 (which will give you a cold and trust me- a cold in summers, is not something anyone can be happy about), read a book or drown yourself in music. I keep alternating between the three or just end up eating mangoes. I think I can easily identify with the passion for mangoes of the man in the Mazza  Mango Mania ad. Each year the summer starts with a firm resolve to resist the temptation of binging on mangoes and the summer ends with a mango for breakfast, lunch and dinner and equal number of pimples to compete.

I can see the cloud cover building on slowly in the Mumbai sky since last week though. And I guess once it starts raining, I will miss the sunshine. Maybe then I will, perhaps, abuse my right to freedom of speech to crib about rains, tangy mouth from binging on jamuns and mud ;)

Buzz no Fuss

I have been in a sour mood for past 2-3 days. No, it is not PMS, work pressure or even the usually X-Y story; it is like an ongoing Buzz going in my life … literally!

Around a week back when I logged into my Gmail account, instead of the inbox, I was presented a web page that spoke about the latest innovation by Google – Buzz! Being quite a champion of Google’s other concepts that have come from the 'Google Labs' like the online calendar, sent message undo and mostly integrated chat with my mail, I thought lets try it why not? It didn’t exactly explain what features it offered…

What followed was I was unknowingly being ‘followed’ by 89 people and (horror of horrors!) was following 103! Inspite of being bugged by almost all my friends and family members to join Facebook or Twitter, I have resisted the pressure to do so (I even deleted my Orkut profile 15 months back). Being on a digital cleanse has demonstrated to be the value of obscurity kind of rightly put by Clive Thompson. So, suddenly being in the middle of an exploding family of pseudo twitter was, I can say, least exciting for me. Fortunately, having techie friends helped and before my whole contact list and blog was on public display I could switch off the buzz option. Even if privacy is not an issue, who would want to know:

- What you had for lunch/ dinner/ snack?

- Your mom following your every conversation with that cute hottie you added via ‘friend of friend’? (yes, mom and dad are getting on it too).

- Love conversations of sickly sweet couple friends on Buzz display – Eeew! Guys, save it for better moments, when it can come handy (ahem!) for a better purpose.

- Having 30 unread posts/ comments in a matter of 10 minutes – mostly irritating status messages on display (‘We used to buy 400 roses on every Valentine’s Day to give to each girl in college’ – dude, good for you!) and lastly,

- Horror of horrors (again), some of your work colleagues, with whom you wouldn’t even want to hang out beyond work, suddenly being added in the thick of your social circuit!

Atleast for me, I was quite irritated with someone claiming by online social circuit on ‘auto follow’. I think maybe it is not a surprise that recently Google gave an apology and there are some merits of obscurity!
